The mouse or shrew (musak, mooshaka, mooshika) is widely recognized and discussed as Lord Ganesha's primary vehicle. In the Ganesha Sahasranama, it is referred to as Mūsakavāhana (meaning the mouse mount) and Ākhuketana (rat-banner).
Mount of Lord Ganesha
The vehicle of Ganesha, known by various names such as steer, Charioteer, vahana, Mount or carrier is also mentioned in legendary stories from different scriptures. These stories also depict Ganesha in different forms and incarnations, which consequently affect the appearance of his Mount.
The Mudgala Purana provides an account of eight manifestations of Ganesha. The initial manifestation, known as Vikata, is depicted with a peacock as his divine vehicle. As for the second incarnation, it is associated with a different vehicle.
The Ganesha Purana provides an account of four manifestations of Ganesha. The initial manifestation, Mohotkata, is accompanied by a lion as its divine vehicle. The second manifestation, known as Mayūreśvara, is accompanied by a peacock. The third manifestation, Dhumraketu, is accompanied by a horse. Lastly, Gajanana is accompanied by a rat.

The Jain scriptures depict Ganesha with different mounts, including a mouse, elephant, tortoise, ram, or peacock.
