The creation of this idol is credited to a Siddhar named Bhogar, who is one of the eighteen great Siddhars in Hinduism. Bogar combined nine toxic substances (Navapashanam) to create the Divine Medicine in the shape of the Lord Murugan statue, which is presently venerated at the Palani Murugan temple. The deity's idol is believed to be crafted from a fusion of these nine poisonous elements, resulting in an everlasting remedy when blended in a specific proportion.
