Venpalavattom Devi Temple Pongala Festival 2023 is on 28 February 2023, Tuesday. The annual festival falls in the month of Kumbam. The festival this year is conducted from 22nd February 2023 and conculdes with pongala nivedyam of 28tf February 2023. The pongala adupu firing ritual is on 9:40 am in the morning.
Venpalavattom Bhagavathy Temple is one of the most famous Devi Temples in Kerala. The temple is located at Anayara, Thiruvananthapuram and has a history of more than 800 years. The temple is unique in that the Devi is worshipped in her two contrasting forms: as Bhagavathy, in her gentle “Satvik” state and as Bhadrakali, in her fierce “Rajasik” state. The temple history is traced further back to the story of Kannagi, depicted in the great Tamil epic “Silappathikaram”.
