Mullakkal Temple also known as Mullakkal Rajarajeswari Temple is a Hindu temple located at Alappuzha in Kerala, India. The Primary deity worshipped here is Goddess Mullakkal Devi or Mullakkal Amma, a form of Durga Devi with four arms. The sub-deities worshipped here are Lord Hanuman, Lord Ganapathi, Lord Subramanya, Lord Nagaraja, Navagrahas, Lord Krishna and Lord Ayyappa.
The main festivals celebrated at Mullakkal Bhagwati Temple are Navarathri Festival and Thaipooya Kavadi Festival. Navarathri is celebrated for nine days. The last two days are celebrated in a grand way with bewitching parade of nine decorated elephants. On the top of it, many cultural events like Ottanthullal are also held during this festival. Thaipooya Kavadi Festival is celebrated once in a year.
Mullakkal Chirappu, celebrated for 11 days, is another festival which draws a large number of devotees and tourists to this temple. The first Sunday of December is celebrated as women’s festival. On this day all rituals and worships are done by women only. Ladies came from different areas. They lit lamps in the temple.
