Hulimavu Cave Temple is a Hindu temple located at Hulimavu in Bannerghatta Road, Karnataka, India. There are three main deities seen inside the sanctum; a Shiva Lingam that occupies the center, on one side there is a Devi idol and on the other side, Lord Ganesha is installed. The temple is placed within the natural cave inside the rocks.
Significance of Hulimavu Cave Temple
Hulimavu Cave Temple is a single rock cave and appears to be centuries old . On the other side there is a very old dhyan mantap seen. This temple is administered by the Sri Sri Bala Gangadaraswami Mutt. It is stated that a saint Sri Ramanand Swamiji did tapas in the cave for many years and his Samadhi is also found inside the cave. It is believed that if one goes inside the cave and sits in meditation for few hours, he will get the feel the vibration of the God and get mental peace.
The natural cave with water was renovated, a temple built inside and later a Samadhi for Sri Ramanand Swamiji was built after the discovery of the cave. Maha Shivaratri is the main festival celebrated here.
