Mata Vaishno Devi Temple is a highly revered Hindu temple dedicated to the Goddess Vaishno Devi. The temple is one of the 108 Shakti Peethas dedicated to Goddess Durga. The temple is located in Katra at the Trikuta Mountains within the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir.
The temple's prominent features is the three idols of Maha Kali, Maha Lakshmi and Maha Saraswati, all images of Vaishno Devi. According to Hindu puranas, Lord Krishna advised Pandava prince Arjuna to worship Mata Vaishno Devi before the Kurukshetra War.
The temple is located at a height of 1,584.96 m (5,200 ft), around 12 km from Katra on Trikuta hill. Vaishno Devi Mandir is an important pilgrimage shrine for both Hindus and Sikhs. Guru Gobind Singh Ji and Swami Vivekananda are some of the many prominent saints who have visited the temple.
Vaishno Devi Temple is about 61 km away from the city of Jammu. Important festivals celebrated include Navaratri and Diwali.
