Darasuram Airavatesvara Temple Photos. Darasuram Temple is a UNESCO World Heritage Site located near Kumbakonam in Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity Lord Shiva is known here as Airavateshvara. It is believed that Airavata, the white elephant vahana of the Hindu God Indra worshiped Mahadev here. The temple was constructed by by Rajaraja Chola II in the 12th century CE.
