Palanchowk Bhagwati Temple in Nepal is a popular Hindu goddess shrine located around 55 km north-east of Kathmandu. The temple is situated on a hilltop in Sathighar Bhagawati VDC of Kabhrepalanchok District. Constructed during the reign of King Manadeva (Lichhavi King Man Deva), the temple enshrines a three feet tall idol of Goddess Bhagwati carved in black stone.
Palanchowk Temple is built in Pagoda style of architectural with three stories. Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered more auspicious to worship the goddess and a large number of devotees visit the temple for Palanchowk Bhagwati darshan. Palanchowk Vagwati is visited both by Hindus and Buddhist devotees. It is believed that the goddesses worshiped in Goddess Naxal Bhagwati and Goddess Shobha Bhagwati temples in Kathmandu are sisters of Palanchowk Bhagwati.
Festivals and Important Days
Dashain or Bijaya Dasami is a 15 days festival celebrated in the month of September – October. This national festival of Nepal is the same Dussera / Vijaya Dasami celebrated in India. Chaite Dashain or Small Dashain is another important festival which falls in Chaitra, the last month of Nepali calendar. Chaite Dashain coincides with Ram Nawami festival. Chandi Purnima is also celebrated with great religious importance.

Bus services are available daily from Old Bus Park of Kathmandu. Palanchowk Bhagwati Temple is a two to three hours hilly scenic drive on the Araniko Highway. Beautiful views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang, Manaslu Himal, and many Himalayan rages can be seen via Dhulikhel and Panchakhal. The temple is around 10 km north of Panchkhal.
