Kamakshi Temple is a famous Goddess Parvati temple located in the historic city of Kanchipuram in Tamil Nadu, India. Goddess Kamakshi is a form of Goddess Tripura Sundari.

Kamakshi Amman Temple along with Madurai Meenakshi Temple and Akilandeswari temple in Thiruvanaikaval are the three main adobes of Goddess Parvathi in Tamil Nadu. The temple was believed to be constructed by Pallava kings, whose capital was Kanchipuram, around 6 CE.
Kamakshi Devi Temple enshrines Goddess Kamakshi Devi in Padmasana posture – the yogic posture signifying peace and prosperity. The goddess is depicted with four hands – she holds a pasha (lasso), an ankusha (goad) in her upper two arms and a sugarcane bow and bunch of flowers the lower two hands. Guru Adi Shankaracharya established the Sri Chakra at Kamakshi Temple.
Festivals
The annual festival of Kamakshi Temple falls on the Tamil month of Maasi (March – April).
Chariot festival (Ther) and lake festival (Theppam) are the important events during the festival. Navaratri Festival, Aippasi Pooram, Vasanta Utsavam and Aadi Festival are other important festivals.
Location
Kamakshi Temple in Kanchipuram is around 72 km from Chennai. Chennai International Airport is the nearest airport to reach Kanchipuram. Kanchipuram Railway station, on the Arakkonam - Chengalpattu branch line, connects the city with other major cities and towns in Tamilnadu.
