Goddess Skandamata Puja on 5th day of Navratri

Goddess Skandamata is worshiped on the fifth day of the nine days Navratri Puja. Goddess Skanda Mata literally means the Mother of Lord Skanda or Muruga, who is the commander in chief of the army of Devas. 

Appearance 

Goddess Skandamata is depicted with six faced baby Murugan or Kartikeya in her lap. She has four hands and holds lotus flowers in her upper two hands. She holds baby Skanda on her left hand. The right hand shows Varada Mudra posture. The mount of Goddess Skandamata is lion. The devi is also known as Goddess Padmasana as she sits on her vahana lion in the lotus position.
