Bhaironghati
Bhaironghati is a scenic forested stopover which abodes a small temple of Bhairon. The bridge over the Jhanvi River at Bhairon Ghati is said to be the highest in Asia. Bhaironghati is just 10 km from Gangotri.
Bhavishya Badri Temple
Bhavishya Badri Temple, located around 17 km east of Joshimath, is another holy site located nearby. The temple is dedicated to Narasingha or Narasimha, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. It is believed in future all the routes to the present Badrinath Temple will be unapproachable and at that time Lord Badrinath will be worshipped at Bhavishya Badri Temple, hence this place is also known as Bhavishya or Future Badri.
Nandanvan
Nandanvan is a 6 km trekking route along the glacier, which gives a stunning view of the Shivalinga. Sylvan Tapovan is seen across the Gangotri glacier, which is known for its greenness surrounding the base of the Shivalinga peak.
