Chettikulangara Kettukazhcha is a cultural event is annually held on the Bharani Nakshathram of Kumbham Malayalam month. Chettikulangara Bhagavathy Temple is located on the Kayamkulam – Mavelikara road in Alappuzha District of Kerala, India.
Tourist Attractions of Kettukazhcha Festival in Kerala
One of the major highlight of Kettukazhcha festival is the display of huge precisely decorated forms of six temple cars (locally known as Kuthiras), Chariots (Therus) and huge wooden images of Lord Hanuman and Bhima. The Kuthiras used in Kettu Kazhcha are around 70 to 75 feet height. The Kettukazhcha at Chettikulangara Temple is regarded as one of the largest cultural visual spectacle in Kerala, similar to Thrissur Pooram Festival. The Kettukazhchas are dragged by hundreds of people to the temple premises on the evening of Kumbha Bharani day.
