The annual Aani Thirumanjana Uthsava at Chidambaram Temple in Tamilnadu will be celebrated from 28th June 2011 to 8th July 2011. Chidambaram Natarajar Temple is one of the five Sthalams or Pancha Bootha Sthalas (five holiest Lord Shiva Temples) each representing one of the five natural elements. Chidambaram Shiva Temple represents akasha (sky). The Thirumanjana festival is a 11 days festival and during the festival days there will be special procession of the temple deity on different vehicles. On the 10th day of the festival is the Maha Abhishekam and special darshan of the deity adorned with jewels. 30th June 2011 – Golden Suryaprabhai Procession
1st July 2011 – Silver Bootha Vahanam Procession
2nd July 2011 – Silver Vrishabha Vahanam (in Theruvadaichan) Procession
3rd July 2011 – Silver Elephant Vahanam Procession
4th July 2011 – Golden Kailasa Vahanam Procession
5th July 2011 – Bhikshadanamoorthy in Golden Car Procession
6th July 2011 - Rathothsavam or Car Festival
7th July 2011 (10th Day of the Festival) – Maha Abishekam to Sri Nataraja & Sri Sivakamasundari Ambal before sunrise at Rajasabai (Thousand Pillars Mandapam), adorning with jewels, Maha Darsanam at 12.00 noon Chitsaba Pravesam Aani Thirumanjana Maha Darisanam.
8th July 2011 – Pearl Palanquin Procession
There will be procession of Panchamoorthies along the four main streets. Vedha Parayanam, Thevara Parayanam, and Nathaswara concerts will be held as part of the festival.
