Sabarimala Makaravilakku Festival
Sabarimala Makaravilakku is a famous festival celebrated at the Sabarimala Ayyappa Sannidhanam on the 14th January every year. The major highlight of Makaravilakku festival at Sabarimala is the Thiruvabharana procession. Thrivaabharanam or Thiruvabharanam are the sacred jewelry or the gold ornaments for Lord Ayyappa that are brought from the Pandalam Palace.
During the evening deeparadhana on Sabarimala Makaravilakku day, Lord Ayyappa will be adorned with all the Thiruvabharanam that are brought from the Pandalam Palace. Every year an estimated amount of half a million Ayyappa devotees will throng to the temple to have darshan of fully attired Lord Ayyappan Swamy in Thiruvabharanam.
