Kalashtami festival is dedicated to Lord Bhairav - the God of Time. Kalabhairav is an incarnation of Lord Shiv. Dog is the vehicle of Lord Kalabhairava. On the auspicious day Kalashtami people observe fasting and visit Bhairav temples and offer special prayers to seek his blessings. Offering food to dogs on this day is considered very auspicious. The date of 2024 Kalashtami festival is November 22.
When is Kalashtami Observed?
Kalashtami is observed on Krishna Paksha Ashtami Tithi (the eighth day from Poornima) of the every lunar month. This festival of Kalashtami is celebrated with great devotion by devotees in different parts of the country.
