There are four important temples of Ayyappa in Kerala which has the same significance as Sabarimala Sree Dharma Shasta Temple. Along with Sabarmala, these four temples of Ayyappan represent the different stages of the life of Ayyappa Swamy. The four temples are Achankovil Sastha Temple, Aryankavu Sree Darma Sastha Temple, Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple and Ponnambalamedu Hill or Ponnambalamedu Temple. These temples were installed by Lord Parasurama.
According to ancient scriptures Sree Ayyappan on his return to Madurai with the milk of leopardess has passed Aryankavu, Achankoil and Kulathupuzha. Many devotees make it a point to visit these shrines during Sabarimala Pilgrimage Season.

Achankovil Sastha Temple
Achankovil Ayyappa Temple is one of the important temples of Lord Ayyappa located in Kerala. Here Lord Ayyappa is depicted along with his two wives named Purna and Pushkala. It is believed that the idol here was installed by Lord Parashurama. This temple is an important Hindu pilgrim centre. The Chandan and Thirtha are considered to have medicinal properties to cure snake bites.
Aryankavu Sree Dharma Sastha Temple
Aryankavu Ayyappa Temple is located at Aryankavu in Kollam District, Kerala. The primary deity worshipped here is Lord Ayyappa. Here the young Ayyappa sits in the middle of Devi and Lord Shiva. Ladies are not allowed inside the inner sanctorum. The most important festivals observed here include Pandiyanmudippu, Trikalyanam and Kumbhabhishekam. During festive seasons the temple witnesses a huge crowd of devotees.
Kulathupuzha Sastha Temple
Kulathupuzha Ayyappan Temple is located at Kulathupuzha in the district of Kollam, Kerala. The primary idol worshipped here is Lord Manikandan or Lord Ayyappa. Devotee's offers Meenoottu vazhipadu for healing the warts of the skin. The Vishu Mahotsavam in April/May is the most important festival. During festive seasons the temple witnesses a huge crowd of devotees.
Ponnambalamedu Hill or Ponnambalamedu Temple
Ponnambalamedu Hill is located near famous Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple, Pathanamthitta in Kerala. Ponnambalamedu means hill of the golden temple. The famous Makaravilakku is lit at Ponnambalamedu on January 14 or 15 and this marks the end of the annual Sabarimala Mandala Makaravilakku pilgrimage.
