Hindu Goddess Kaumari

Goddess Kaumari is one of the Saptamatrikas or seven Mother goddess in Hindu religion. Also known as Goddess Karthikeyani, she is the power of Kumara or Kartikeya, the Hindu God of War. According to the Matsya Purana, the vahana of Goddess Kaumari (Kowmari) is a peacock and holds the weapons Angusum Vail (a short spear), Arrow and Trisula (trident).

Goddess Kaumari is generally depicted with Kumkum body color and represents valour and courage. The goddess takes her name and attributes from Lord Muruga and is depicted with the same weapon and vehicle of Subrahmanya. In some images the goddess is shown with six heads and twelve arms holding Spear, Flag, Dhandam (Staff ), Vessel, Arrow, Bow, Bell, Lotus, Cock and Parasu (Axe). While the lower two front hands are in Varadha - Abhya Mudra.
