Skanda Sashti is the most significant among all the other Sashti Vrat dedicated to Lord Skanda or Muruga. During Skanda Sashti devotees of Lord Skanda observe six days fasting which lasts on Soorasamharam day. The Next day to Soorasamharam is known as the Tirukalyanam. Skanda Shasti is celebrated to commemorate the victory of Lord Skanda over demon Surapadma. In 2023, Skanda Sashti begins on November 18.
