Chhatarpur Temple of Goddess Katyayani in Delhi

Chhatarpur Temple or Shri Adhya Katyani Shakti Peeth Mandir is a popular Hindu temple located south of Delhi in Chhatarpur, India. The temple is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani, one of the Navadurga forms of Parvati. The temple, spread over 60 acres of land, is regarded as the second largest temple complex in India, after Akshardham Temple. Chhatarpur Temple is situated off Mehrauli – Gurgaon road, just 1 km from Chhatarpur Metro Station and 4 km from the famous tourist site Qutub Minar in Delhi. 

Temple Deities

The main shrine is dedicated to Goddess Katyayani, whose darshan can be availed only on ashtami falling in every month or during the nine days Navaratri Festival. The temple has a shrine dedicated to Maha Gauri which is open to devotees for worship from morning to evening. The temple has shrines of Goddess Durga, Lord Ganesh, Lord Rama, Radha Krishna, and Lord Shiva. Some other important shrines inside the temple are Laxmi Vinayak Mandir, Maa Mahishasurmaridini Mandir, Nageshwar Mandir, Jharpeer Mandir, Markandeya Mandapam, and Maa Ashtabhuji Mandir. The 101 feet Hanuman Statue in Chhatarpur Temple is another major attraction.

Temple Features

The architecture of Chhatarpur Temple is a mixture of both North Indian and South Indian style. Adhya Katyani Shakti Peeth Temple is a huge temple complex divided into three different complexes and features more than 20 large and small temples. The temple features a huge prayer hall where satsangs, bhajans, and religious discourses are conducted on Sundays, Purnimas, Shivaratri, Janamashtami, and Navratras.
