Bada Ganpati Temple in Indore, Madhya Pradesh is famous for worshipping one of the biggest Ganesh murti (idol) in the country. This ancient temple enshrines a 25 feet tall Ganesha idol from crown to feet. The temple was built during the reign of Rani Ahilya Bai Holkar in 1875.
Significance of Bada Ganpati Murti
The Ganapati murti is constructed with seven holy cities – Kashi, Dwaraka, Ayodhya, Kanchi, Mathura, Maya, and Avantika. Other materials used include brick, lime stone, metals, masala made of Gud, the powder of Pancharatnas (diamond, emerald, pearl, ruby and topaz), and holy water from all major pilgrimage places. The metallic frame of the murti is made of gold, silver, iron, brass and copper.
