Four Kumaras Sons of Brahma

The Four Kumaras or Catursana are one of the 22 avatars of Lord Vishnu found in Bhagavata Purana. Puranic Hindu scriptures state the Four Kumaras as the 4 sons of Lord Brahma and are described as great stages. They are named Sanaka, Sanatana, Sanandana and Sanatkumara and are listed among the 12 Mahajanas (great devotees or bhaktas) of Mahavishnu.

Lord Brahma created the Four Kumaras in order to aid him in the process of creation. However, they undertook Brahmacharya (lifelong vows of celibacy) against the wishes of Brahma. The Four Kumaras wander the universe to spread the Hindu spiritual traditions mainly associated with worship of Vishnu and Krishna. Despite being very senior in age, they believe to wander in the form of small children of five years.
