Saptarishi or the Seven Sages in Hinduism are the mind born sons of Lord Brahma, who helped Brahma Deva in his act of creation of the world. In Sanskrit, “Sapta” means “Seven” and “Rishi” means “Sage”. It is believed that the Sapta Rishis lived for a period of time known as a Manvantara (306,720,000 Earth Years) – or the age of a Manu. However, there are differences in the names of Saptarshis seen in Brihat Samhita, Mahabharata, and Krishna Yajurveda. Sage Agastya is also regarded as Saptarishi.
The Seven Rishis mentioned in the Shatapatha Brahmana and Brihadaranyaka Upanishad (2.2.4) are
1) Kashyap
2) Bharadvaja
