Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram is one of the five Pancha Bhoota Temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Ekambareswarar Temple represents Earth or Prithvi Lingam and is located in Kanchipuram of Tamil Nadu. Ekambaranathar Temple is one of the ancient temples of India built by Pallava and Chola Kings. The temple has an entrance tower Rajagopuram which is one of the tallest in South India. The deity worshipped is Lord Shiva in the form of Ekambaranathar which means "Lord of Mango Tree". Ekambareswarar Temple in Kanchipuram is also one of the 275 famous Shiva temples (Paadal Petra Sthalam).

The legend of the Ekambareswarar Shiva Temple is that, Goddess Parvati worshipped Lord Siva in the form of Prithvi Linga near the river Vegavathi. The river overflowed and was threatened to cover completely the Shiva Linga and Parvathi embraced the Siva Lingam and thus the Ekambareswarar was to be known as “Tazhuva kuzhainthaar” which means “He who melted in Her embrace”.
