Thrissur Pooram festival is the one of the most colourful festival celebrated in Kerala, India. Known as the “Pooram of all Poorams”, Trichur Pooram festival is held on Purva Phalguni nakshatra (Pooram Nakshatram) in the Malayalam month of Medam. The 2016 Thrissur Pooram date is on 17th April 2016.

The main venue of Thrissur Pooram festival is the Thekkinkadu Maidan (also known as Thrissur Swaraj Round) – which encircles the Vadakkumnathan Shiva Temple. Thevu Bagavathi Temple and Thiruvambadi Sri Krishna Temple are the main 2 participating temples in Trichur Pooram. Both the temples are situated very close to the Vadakkumnathan Temple.
