What is the difference between Sabarimala Makaravilakku & Makara Jyothi? The High Court of Kerala inquired the Travancore Devaswom Board to explain the difference between Sabarimala Makaravilakku and Sabarimala Makara Jyothi in Sabarimala Temple. The Kerala High Court also inquired why the Kerala Government failed to make necessary facilities for pilgrims which resulted in the stampede that claimed the lives of 102 Sabarimala pilgrims.
However, the Chief Minister of Kerala, Shri V.S. Achuthanandan today mentioned that the Government will not make any probe to check the genuineness of ‘Makarajyothi’. Achuthanandan said “The Government is neither going to consult astrologers nor scientists to ascertain the veracity of Makarajyothi, which millions believe is divine and throng the hill shrine with intense desire to see it”.
Makara Jyothi is regarded as a celestial light by lakhs of Ayyappa devotees all over the world. Since the last few years, there are several controversies going on regarding the Makaravilakku and Makara Jyothi in Sabarimala Ayyappa Temple.
