Attukal Pongala, also spelled Attukal Ponkala, is a world famous Hindu festival celebrated at Attukal Devi Temple, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. The annual Attukal Pongala Mahotsavam is celebrated during the Malayalam month of Makaram – Kumbham (February - March). In 2022, the date of Attukal Pongala is on 17 February.
Attukal Bhagavathy Temple enshrines Goddess Parvathi Devi as the presiding deity. Attukal Devi Temple is sometimes referred as the ‘Sabarimala of Women’. Attukal Pongala is an exclusive women’s festival and has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for being the World’s largest religious gathering of women.
