Dhanwantari Jayanti Festival date is on 29 October 2024. Dhanvantari Jayanti celebrates the birthday of Lord Dhanwantari, the physician of the Gods and the Hindu God of Ayurvedic medicine. It is believed that it is on this day Lord Dhanvantari emerged from the ocean of milk. Dhanvantari Jayanti falls on the Thrayodasi Thithi of Black fortnight in the Malayalam month of Vrischikam (November - December).
Dhanvantari Jayanti in North India
Dhanwantari Jayanti falls on the first day of Diwali festival. Also known as Dhantrayodashi or Dhanwantari Triodasi or Dhan teras, Dhanvantari Jayanthi usually falls on the 13th lunar day before Amavasya in the Hindu month of Ashwin (October - November). Apart from worshipping Goddess Lakshmi on the day for prosperity and well being, people also worship Lord Dhanvantri, who is the God of Ayurveda.
Dhanvantari Jayanti Celebrations in India
People worship Lord Dhanvantari by lighting earthen lamps in the houses. It is believed that worshipping Dhanwantari on Dhanvantari Jayanti would bless the people with good health. Dhanvantari Jayanti is also celebrated with much devotion in India by the practitioners of Ayurveda, the Indian traditional medicine. Hindu devotees also make it a point to visit Lord Dhanwantari Temples to seek the God’s blessings for sound health.
